words of wisdom
"What God Himself has not compelled, let no man try."
I heard Jon Meacham (author of American Gospel) recite this short quote, speaking about the idea of forcing one's own faith on others.
I have had no success online trying to find out who originally said this. If you know, please send me a comment.

No, God doesn't "compel" but He does "constrain." It's a paradox, really, because love is holding someone with an open hand, not a tight fist. And yet, here it is in black and white:
"For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that He died for all, that they which live should not live for themselves, but for Him who died for them, and rose again." -2 Corinthians 5:14 & 15
And so, we are compelled to love. Last night I read a simple quote in a magazine about our job here on this earth: love God. love others. Let's do it!
